Ben Todd has written the best thing on how to plan your career given AI/AGI. Will thread. A very plausible scenario is salaries for the right work go up 10x over a ~decade, before then falling to 0. So we might be heading for a brief golden age followed by crazy upheaval. 1/

- No meetings before 11am. - No meetings when emails or calls will do. - Don’t schedule calls, text coordinate them on the fly when possible. - Cram all meetings into two days a week. - 1-on-1s are usually 30-minute walking meetings. (Meetings are the death of productivity)

When I discussed quitting Google to do a Phd, my manager, Steve Cheng, gave me the advice of "6 shots": Doing something meaningful usually takes about 5 years and we are productive for roughly 30 years. That gives you 6 attempts. So pick each one carefully and give it your best.
