Nice Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Bedford War Memorial. In a world where so much feels like it is getting worse - seeing big crowds turn out to mark this most special of days reminds me that there is a still a lot we get right.

Last December, Chrystia Freeland quit Justin Trudeau’s cabinet hours before she was due to deliver the Fall Economic Statement She did so after Trudeau told her he would be demoting her after the Statement in order to hand the Finance Portfolio to Central Banker Mark Carney whom

Agreed. People who say wearing a poppy is a political statement are getting high on their own cleverness. In my experiences you find a lot of those people in first year philosophy classes or debate clubs etc. And listen, I was one of those kids once. Anyone is free to channel
I’m not sure the poppy really is a political statement unless you think Canadian forces should have lost WW1 & WW2…but even if it is not all political statements are morally equal (obviously). And for what it’s worth the poppy represents the last bit of civic nationalism we have

Imagine the twisted worldview of a judge who declares wearing a poppy to be an unacceptable political statement. They are unworthy of the office they hold. Thank goodness we have leaders like Tim Houston who are not only prepared to call out this madness - but also actually do
It has come to my attention that earlier this week there was an order issued prohibiting individuals working in certain court facilities from wearing poppies while on duty in those locations. This order was issued under the guise that the poppy is somehow a ‘political statement.’

This is such lazy attempt to clean this up. Do a video direct to camera. Make it real and personal (my wife wanted to go and I had to wear it, she’s a lifelong dodgers fan). It is clear the only reason he’s doing it is he’s in Toronto twice in the next month and he’s getting a

On a purely professional - as opposed to partisan - level this budget speech is brutal. I get that English is Champagne’s second language - but a professional speechwriter should be expected to do more with what they are given.

I know what I will be rewatching tonight I know it’s now fashionable to hate him on the Trumpian right & it’s always been fashionable to hate him on the hard left But, my goodness, what an example of uncompromising moral clarity Dick Cheney https://t.co/m46fnuREO2 via @YouTube

It sounded like AI wrote it, with the prompt being "write in the tone of a junior level McKinsey management consultant who is hoping to enrapture a left wing Davos crowd while trying to on-sell an existing client"
My final thought: There are smart people in PMO. This is supposed to kick off the budget comms rollout. I bet the original draft was punchier and more direct. And the PM (or someone at his behest) rewrote it and it became…whatever that word salad was…and staff had to roll with

I reviewed 'Elbows Up!', a new collection of essays, fiction, and graphic art commissioned before the phrase became fully ironic. The book says more about the Canadian cultural elite's discomfort with their own country than about America or Trump. https://t.co/dYq4RJIjVj

I shared some thoughts with the team at @TheHubCanada about whether there are any lessons the rest of Canada can learn from the election of @TonyWakehamNL.

He’s going to be a great Premier.
Thank you to @MikeConnors for having me on this week’s episode of @NTVNewsNL Issues and Answers. Since the MOU was first introduced, I’ve been clear: this deal can’t be about an election, it must be about securing a better, stronger future for the next generation. Our PC

I heard about a guy who scammed a bunch of seniors into giving up their votes by saying he’s be all ‘elbows up’ with Trump But after he’d taken those votes he started calling Trump ‘transformational’ & begging to do a trade & security deal with him Where do I report that fraud?
