An interesting approach. They train a classifier on single-nucleus RNA-seq data to distinguish infant imGCs from non-neuronal cell-types (while excluding mGCs and other neurons) and claim it can identify imGCs in adult data. Yet the highest gene weight is for a pan-GC marker?

Dr. Brann!!!🤩
Last month I defended my PhD in Chemistry and became Dr. Brann! I'm so thankful for my advisor Steve Sibener and for everyone that supported me along this journey! 👩🔬🥳 #PhDone #WomenInSTEM

Excited and proud to share my postdoc work out @nature today: https://t.co/cgRbigcVJN. It all started as a conversation on a balcony many years ago with @zmainen on the mysteries of olfaction and spatial cognition 👃🧠🚀 Video by @Neuro_CF AV team 👉 https://t.co/xKx5sJcxrs 1/n

Fits with my experiences. Every time I google a random gene name, I always stumble upon crappy cancer studies
"Nearly 90% of genes are associated with cancer." – @jpsenescence "Finding a simple association is enough to have a publication. That’s the problem." https://t.co/oz9wd1U04d v @statnews There has been decades of genohype. Big science efforts can lead to lots of research noise.

Very excited to share my recent work in the @AdamEzraCohen Lab. https://t.co/RG5Tnb70Ht Here, we developed a protein “ticker tape” to write in living cells their history of biological processes (e.g., neural activity)!

Dr. Chaudhri is the 3rd biomed researcher I know of to be stricken w lethal ovarian cancer in the last 5 yrs; the 2nd this yr (Sue Lindquist 2016, @AngelikaAmon 2020). Plus those I don't know about. We're loosing too many women. More research $$ for women's health NOW.
But the bottom line is that ovarian cancer research is underfunded. We also need more awareness of symptoms because early detection improves prognosis dramatically.

We started this effort after I was told by the company that I was not a high enough caliber scientist to benefit from this tool. Now many years later, so many people have told me how our open-source microscopes made it easy for them to get science done, to enter a new field.1/x

Announcing the most detailed examination of mammalian brain circuitry to date. This data release marries a 3D wiring diagram with the function of tens of thousands of neurons. https://t.co/iHk0fvyLBo

MA CDC is finally separating out tests from higher education, which account for about half of all tests in the state but few positives (as expected for surveillance testing). Once removed, the statewide positivity rate doubles.

The DOE hired the attorney/funder of a men’s rights group to rewrite new Title IX regulations. That attorney also funded a group that "sterilizes drug users in exchange for cash" as well as a conservative think tank "devoted to issues of race and ethnicity" that opposes AA
Nearly 3,000 pages of emails reveal that the Department of Education worked with men’s rights groups to rewrite the rules on campus sexual assault and harassment.

Unemployment for lawyers is 1/2 the national avg and 1/4 that for restaurant workers, yet Law offices received the 3rd most # of PPP loans >150k and received 3x more per employee (while also retaining fewer employees). Wasn't just individual companies that took advantage...
