Here is a video on the subwoofer design I designed for Bassnectar NYE 2015. It is hard to get sound 40 dB louder at 300 feet than it is in the center of a ring of subs!. Here are the nuts and bolts to designing a precision 360 degree subwoofer array.

Subs on a separate send is better!. Because of of the flaws in how mics pick up sound. High pass filters are like strainers removing the big pieces but they have no way to tell the difference between rumble, mechanical noise, useful audio and wind.
