There’s not enough discussion on here about how hard it is to do residency with distance. I was told was it’ll be okay, you’ll make it work. Here we are on our “golden weekend” after not seeing each other for months. Post 28 hour call. Keep up this in mind for couples match.

100%. Remember PO:IV conversion is not straightforward, high variability in half life.

Good to use for bigger cases with at least a short/overnight stay.

This video shows significant airway soiling. Suction was used continuously to provide a view in order to secure the airway (the SALAD technique) #AiRBlogVideos #FOAMed #Airway Find the password and more info here: https://t.co/X6GooEuPxo

You can nicely see the ICP waveform from the patients ( who was boarding ) ventriculostomy. Its very import to look and learn how to read all these different waveforms in the ICU, including doppler on echo and pocus.

What people think I do in the ICU to help patients get better vs what I actually do in the ICU.

Crazy that it has already been a year with this crew. I’m so thankful to be amongst them. Every critical care fellowship should be multidisciplinary.

It’s pretty much a general rule of life that it doesn’t matter how great your circumstances are, there will always be those who find reason to complain. And conversely there will be those who don’t complain. Which do you want to be?

There is no such thing as a pulm-crit fellowship off of anesthesiology residency. If you want to do pulmonology, you need to do IM. Any anesthesiologist doing critical care is not a pulmonologist unless they are also boarded in IM and then did pulm-crit fellowship.

@TPP_MD The best way to have zero complications is never to have done a procedure. I believe this is why it is referred to as the practice of medicine (or surgery). As long as we learn from our mistakes and strive to be better and treat each patient as you would want your own family

Disconjugating airway management from the ICU team leads to competing priorities that do not serve our patients. Outside providers have other patients/cases/responsibilities. This can lead to inappropriate intubation/reintubation/delayed extubation. Not something to take lightly

Unpopular opinion: Credit card rewards are overrated. There are better ways to spend your time than applying for cards, managing points, and juggling different cards for each category of spending.

Weird to say it, but I’m enjoying studying for oral boards. I’m really glad I chose anesthesiology.

Ok #MedTwitter what do you call this medical device at your institution? This thing has more names than I can count.

🧵regarding the 'figure-of eight' suture and also the 'pursestring' suture. We'll go over what they are for, some technical pointers, and errors that can be made while doing them. (1/ )

Transporter 4 starring Jason Statham… We again meet Frank Martin, now settled, having taken what he thought was a relaxed job as a hospital transport staff. Little did he know, he was in for the ride of his life. While transporting yet another ICU patient to the CT scanner…

Long thread, but to summarize. If I became a PD tomorrow I would: -put objective data on my website -3D tour/as many pictures of my facilities as possible -instagram with anonymous Q&A, lots of resident spotlights -get faculty on Twitter :) @emilysharpe
