Furries also got displaced a few times since the earliest iterations of the community on Tieba got mass reported by internet homophobes. Then 2014-2017 was just seeing alternative foreign sites like Deviantart and Pixiv being banned one by one lol (They never banned FA tho)

Coming back to post this: This genuinely feels like my childhood going over again where the government gained more and more control over the net, starting with banning Facebook, over a few slow boiling years, and everything was justified by "foreign interference"

Man within a week furry twitter went from limping along to completely dead :( It had to happen but still sad when it actually does happen... inevitably, some, if not most friendships and connections will get lost each time a platform shuffle happens. Probably my last tweet.

This is the one thing that I'm afraid of; it took 10+ years for China's censorship apparatus to get to where it is, but the US already has all the same technology and could literally copy and paste the Chinese censorship system (as the first "Tiktok Ban" bill was) Get prepared.

I wish I could write about the myriad of ways that Chinese furries use to combat censorship but I don't have the most up to date expertise here. But if someone does, I'll be sure to translate/expand on that.

For furries specifically: Archive your shit. Move them offline. Fundraise for FA and e6 to relocate servers from the US. Build peer to peer groups that share redundant contacts in case the main platform gets banned.

The US would be entering autocracy with a significantly less solid foundation than Russia or China. While the US has every tool it has to turn fascist, the levers would have to be pulled one by one and this is going to buy time. Don't call this "the last election" yet.
