You could have easily given both of those MVP's to the Giants defense. Or better yet, David Tyree for getting the ball to stick to the side of his helmet.

Plunkett had a .500 career record also, threw for less yards than Andy Dalton, had 34 more INTs than TDs, rode Marcus Allen to one of his SB wins, once threw 8 TDS against 25 INTs in a season, had a 67.5 career passer rating, should I go on?

Please go on. Now do Eli. "Rode Marcus Allen to one of his Super Bowl wins." As if Eli didn't "ride the Giants defense" to BOTH of his wins. So please go on. Tell me how good Eli was when his defense wasn't taking him to Super Bowls. Please go on...

Stats are not even close. Manning is two to 1 on every plunkett stat and then some. This is insane to compare plunkett to Eli
@danderson711
@clarencehilljr
I feel you but Jim wasn’t even a starter during his tenure with the Raiders. Remarkable indeed to take over in the middle of the season twice & win the Super Bowl but I don’t think that alone gets you in the HOF
@EliteRob2914
@clarencehilljr
First of all Plunkett became the starter in Week 6 in 1980. And there has to be some value in taking over a 2-3 team, getting them into the Wildcard, and then becoming the first Wildcard team to win a Super Bowl.

@clarencehilljr
Jim Plunkett: 164 TDs, 25,000 yds, 67.5 career passer rating
Eli: 366 TDs, 57,000 yds, 84.1 career passer rating
This is why
@BradfordWiles
@clarencehilljr
No it's not. His numbers are in a passing league AND his win percentage is the same .500 win percentage as Plunkett. So those numbers didn't equate to any better win percentage than Plunkett.
@danderson711
@clarencehilljr
Because Plunkett beat teams he was expected to beat. Eli threw for 270 yards in two fourth quarters against the greatest defensive coach in the history of the sport.

7th all-time in passing yards, 7th in TD’s, one of only 12 QB’s with multiple SB’s... Overall record aside, that’s a HOF-worthy resumé, and I’m not even a Manning fan.
