So my dear friend @mtgilchrist — who exemplified all of the qualities of integrity, journalistic curiosity, pop-culture mastery and cinematic critical analysis that @Variety has championed for years — was laid off by Variety.
Much to my disappointment, I was laid off today by @Variety. It was really a dream job for me, and I'm grateful for every opportunity that I was given there as part of its incredible editorial team.
