Devastated to see all these #bee nests dug up and destroyed. Hate badgers, there are so many of them they are obliterating our ground nesting birds and bees. And farmers get the blame for low bee populations!

Dear general public. We decided to include lots of sunflowers in plots for winter bird food as they look nice and everyone can enjoy them before the birds get to eat them. If you continue to pick (steal) them, next year we shall not plant any. Yours Farmers.

Have to admit, I didn't know there was such a big market for the C02 biproduct of fertiliser production. This begs a question to @FarmCO2Toolkit . Why is the C02 carbon cost to my business from fert so high if it is being bottled and used elsewhere to cool Sizewell?

Always intrigued by end goal of posts like this. The implication is that commercial farming is awful so simply if we stop that everything will be fine. But there’s never recognition of the fact that commercial farming is what provides us with what we need to survive. Food. 1/ 🧵

The hard truth. This is rural Suffolk - in an incredibly old & beautiful spot surrounded by commercial arable farming. The result=decimation of insect populations. Imagine what that means for anything ‘higher up’ in food chain? Same’s true nationwide. Canary in the mineshaft.

Assuming the 250 means 250hp, and the fact the tractor is used and a year old, I make that a doubling of tractor prices since 2007. Twice the price of 13yrs ago. Just let that sink in, and ask yourself how much inputs have reduced and commodity prices risen in that time.....

We dont want "income support" We are farmers, we want to grow something and get paid for it. If that something is bird food, insect habitat, scrubland or broccoli, it doesnt matter. But it has either a value for environment, or human consumption, and is a cost to us.

I counted 11 nests destroyed in just 100yds along a single track road in the banks either side. First they’ve destroyed all the hedgehogs, now the bumble bees. Hateful creatures. Too many driven into smaller areas by urban sprawl and nothing can be done about them.

Can we have a televised debate between Minette and Jacob Rees-Mogg? He can bring some of his highly efficient globally competitive Somerset farmers on too.

Sounds like the PM is trying to confuse the public here. Yes, these pigs are destined to be killed anyway. But at an abbatoir which then sends the bacon and pork products to our supermarket shelves. This issue means they will be incinerated and wasted, nobody will be paid. 1/3

Absolutely maddening. Food is so poorly valued that producers are told “keep feeding us for nothing, and make some money by doing something completely different” Why isn’t good food valued?

Ah the usual chestnut - “farmers can more easily diversify and develop new businesses, such as farm shops, commercial space and sporting venues” Never see Gov push other industries to diversify to make ends meet! PM announces support for farming

Its most bizarre. Will @Channel4 be airing a program 'how to burgle a house' soon as well? Can't quite get my head around why you would film (and be allowed to air) a program inciting people to commit a crime.

Can’t farm undrained or poorly drained land, more especially so without tillage. Failed spring barley into failed OSR after relentless wet after sowing. #averagefarmer
