Cowessess First Nation Chief Cadmus Delorme says there may be adults buried here as well.
Graves were overseen by the catholic church.
The chief says some had grave markers up until the 1960s, but that they were removed by the church.
Chief Delorme asks that everyone stand by the Cowessess community as they heal and get stronger - and that we all must put down our ignorance and accidental racism of not addressing the truth that Canada has with Indigenous people.
Chief Delorme says they will continue to do their research.
One day there will be a monument- and they want to have a name on every unmarked grave.
Says they are treating it as a crime scene as removing the prior headstones is a crime.

Man, this is an outrage. I'm so upset by this news. Somehow not surprised as much as I should be. What a morally corrupt and vicious act, to cover it up was complicity.
