This ads aren’t meant to produce customers. They are meant to signal allegiance and to participate in the shaping of minds. Profit-oriented capitalism died in 2008

@contramordor I agree, but the consumer does ultimately hold the power, it's just harder to organize based on the raw numbers involved. Allocating capital is controlled by a handful of people, where consumers have to respond by the millions. It's an uphill battle, but not a forgone conclusion

@contramordor Marketing isn’t to appeal to what consumers want, it’s actually to change consumer behavior. The recent trend of marketing is obviously around removing bigoted/sexist behavior from the masses. It’s a good thing. The coordination helps because it renders boycotts ineffective

I wish "Go woke, go broke" was true, but it isn't. The opposite is true. Rootedness in traditional social institutions cultivates sales resistance. Rooted people find their needs and desires met close to home, often outside of The Global Market.
