Innovations like this and our deliberative townhall with @AliciaPayneMP on young people and politics, are vital to democratic representation. 88% of the constituents we surveyed agreed that it is very important for young people to have greater participation in decision-making.

Exciting to see @AliciaPayneMP continuously striving to build participatory and deliberative connections with constituents and local civic organisations!
Deliberative democracy is about reaching voices less heard and allowing participants deeper discussion of issues. Very excited to establish the Canberra Forum with huge thanks to Democracy Co and @CAPADACT for bringing us together!

Politicians need to abandon their deeply entrenched expectation of being lobbied by young people and, instead, to actively seek out and listen to young people. @nnemr @selenAercan & @AriadneVromen share lessons from @connecting2parl

And: "there is a need to “just have a constant open connection between the representative and [those] they’re representing”. This idea taps into...discursive representation: where...[MPs] are accountable for the extent to which affected groups are key actors in decision-making."
Can democratic innovations address the widening disconnect between young people’s political engagement and formal politics? @AriadneVromen, @selenAercan and @nnemr share their insights from a town hall on this issue https://t.co/ekVHorHoSH
