We’ve wrapped up an insightful session on Collaborative Strategies for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation: A Landscape Approach. Special thanks to our speakers from Salug Valley for their powerful stories of resilience.

Also, it’s essential to identify major decision areas during the planning phases. By focusing on the most urgent needs and strategic actions, these plans can transcend political terms, ensuring continuity and long-term impact beyond changes in leadership.

The League of LDRRMOs in Salug Valley is now officially recognized and registered with the SEC, with regular meetings to strengthen collaboration. They thanked @cdporgph for its support in organizing the group, which will help sustain monitoring and the EWS in the area.

During the session, a participant asked key questions: How do we ensure cooperation in transboundary CCA & DRRM plans? How can we sustain initiatives despite political shifts? How do we engage other sectors and foster a mindset shift? And, how do we measure success?

The merging of science and local knowledge? Each community disseminates early warning through local and traditional ways of communicating warnings to the at-risk members of the community.

By promoting sustainable river basin management and empowering communities, Salug Valley’s EWS aligns with global frameworks, ensuring long-term resilience for all.

The Salug Valley Association of LDRRMOs, formed through Project PROSPER, unites LGUs across 3 provinces, ensuring long-term cooperation and resilience.

With PAGASA’s support, Salug Valley’s disaster response is now more scientific and sustainable. Standardizing flood levels and improving communication saves lives and strengthens communities. #EW4ALL #APMCDRR2024

Real-time data sharing between LGUs transforms disaster response, facilitating rapid evacuations, resource deployment, and protection of agriculture and fisheries.

The Salug Valley Inter-LGU End-to-End Early Warning System (EWS) and flood protocol ensure timely, accurate info reaches communities, enabling swift, life-saving actions during disasters.

Dhinar Riski from YEU shares powerful insights on the impact of watershed rehabilitation in Gunungkidul Regency, Indonesia. Conservation projects ensure sufficient water supply for irrigation and livestock, transforming community resilience and livelihoods.

Communities are the heart of sustainable agroforestry. By planting drought-resilient crops and leading inclusive forest land-use plans, they protect their land, build fences, and take on custodial roles to safeguard their future. It’s resilience led by the people. #APMCDRR2024

Pooling resources & investments through the DRRM Fund drives long-term ecosystem resilience. Strategic budgeting in prevention and mitigation supports initiatives like demo farms, system rice intensification, Climate-Resilient Farming Systems (CRFS) & coastal resource management.

He emphasizes the importance of preserving Salug Valley's biodiversity through an ecosystem-based approach to Early Warning Systems. Ensuring coherence between Barangay DRRM and climate change adaptation plans across LGUs strengthens resilience for communities.
