It’s been over 10 years since I did that project. Incredible the ripple effect it’s had, even all these years later. Forever grateful to all who were vulnerable enough to put themselves behind the sign, & tough enough to withstand the inevitable trolling that came with it. ❤️

Touring year is coming to an end in just under 3 weeks for me. Thank you to all the artist that made the last 12 months a wonderful experience, and to all the friends & family that made my handful of days at home unforgettable.

I’ll close with this. PLEASE, educate yourself as much as possible before advocating for something you��ve only ever read about. Specially when living it is very much still a reality. Communist countries welcome you with open arms. Move in. Thanks for reading 🖤

Also, don’t let the word “food” fool you here. Unless by food you mean bread as hard as a rock. So hard that to eat it you dip in water & raw sugar. If that’s how you define food than yes, we got a solid breakfast before school every day. “Agua con azúca” Monday - Friday.

Another thing I think most people can comprehend is food, so let’s discuss that. My family has a “Libreta” which when taken to the Bodega allows us to grab what the government thinks is enough food to feed my family…except it’s not, not even close :)

I remember many nights getting little to no sleep and just rolling in sweat because there was no power. Nothing to run the fans, or stop the “food” from spoiling. Most frustrating part was not knowing when the power would come back, & if it did return, for how long?

I’ll start with something most people can understand: electricity. In Cuba, we have “Apagones”. The government shuts off power to your entire city without letting you know, & it comes back whenever they want. The level of disregard here by the government is hard to match.

Communism, Ernesto Guevara, & anything painting either as “good” is nothing but misleading & complete propaganda. In hopes to provide helpful insight on why I have this stance, here’s a view of how life actually is when you live under that system and ideas.

I’d like to start by saying that everything here comes from a place of love. I do not mean to bash anyone, just merely speak from my experience in hopes that whoever is reading this might perhaps see things in a manner of which it didn’t occur to them before.

It’s genuinely heartbreaking to see others fighting for a system they’ve never lived in. For a few months now I’ve been meaning to say something, but I’ve always brushed it off. Tonight after catching up with family I feel it’s important to try & educate those willing to listen.

Actually guys, I’m sorry, somehow I forgot this also took place this year. After a while I just can’t keep track on how many tours I’ve done, haha. In any scenario, my thoughts remain. Grateful for you all, thank you for making my job so rewarding and fulfilling 🌹

About halfway done with the first tour of the year & it’s been nothing short of incredible. Meeting so many of you guys every night has been honestly such a gift, & I’m grateful for everyone one of you. The stories you tell & kindness you share make my nights. Blessing to you all
