YouTube channel for all things retro computing.
England, United Kingdom
Joined February 2019
I've decided to join the great exodus over to bsky. I used to really like twitter, but over the years it's changed. I used to see lots of posts from interesting people, on a wide variety of topical, and keep up with freinds. Now I most see posts from the tin foil hat lot.

I won't delete the account, as I don't want to be impersonated, but new posts will be from @retrobytes on https://t.co/umHgnQjbNH, hopefully see you all in the other place. So long and thanks for all the tweets.

It's absolutely fantastic that Rosie is back, and in this case sense has prevailed. However the system in place at YT that caused all the stress for no good reason is still in place, it would be good if YT looked to learn from its mistakes.
It's back. Thank you, sincerely, to every single one of you that boosted this. To have to go through 24 hours of absolute stress in order to have this reinstated, and with still no indication what triggered it, is insane. But we're back.

@TeamYouTube I cannot, understand what kind of reasoning would lead you to think a harmless retro gaming focused channel violated your policies... esp when you let some truly problematic channels flourish and thrive . At the very least provide actual reasons Shame on you!
Hey @TeamYouTube - you've terminated my channel for "spam/deceptive practise/abuse" policies that I haven't violated. I've appealed this, and your automated system has kept it terminated. Can I have a human look at this please? https://t.co/aK0Al1LwNM

This is a terible way to treat someone @TeamYouTube, only to provide automated responses, failing to explain how you think they have violated a policy, they have clearly not violated.

I have a bit of a softspot for the game gear, I really wanted one as a kid, but could never afford the batteries. So you can imagine how much I enjoyed watching GouldFish turn one in to a desktop system (but not a master system), well worth a watch.

Ok the order has gone off for manufacture so I'll stop bleating on about it for a while. If this works, it'll be a way to upgrade an original Spectrum to have better graphics than the Next. How's that for a goal?

Grid Trap is an excellent new 32K game that requires the ME/MX addon for your original Mattel Aquarius, or a new Aquarius+ (or + Mini). Grid Trap will not run on a standard unexpanded Aquarius....

The latest video contains a less than subtle plug for Retrofest, which I'll be going to again. Really looking forwards to it, if you've never been its a fantastic event full of incredible people, who bring some really interesting machines with them.
The exhibitor list is live - and this year looks to be the best ever! We'll have live PERQ repairs, Soviet Calculators, a MacPlus clone, Core Wars, Acorn Systems 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and a whole bunch of Youtubers ... and there's still more to be added. https://t.co/yXvwhGkdWU

I managed to get hold of one of the last Sparc workstations Sun made, the Ultra45. Sun knew this would most probably be the last in the line, so what was Sun's swan song like. https://t.co/feIjSZU8aW

Guess the spindle motor had gotten a bit crusty and it constantly trying to run has freed it up. Don't know how long this burst of health will last, but it does make installing stuff a little easier.

Been using it for a few days now, and amazingly the dvd drive has sprung back in to life. I forgot I left a disc in the drive, and I left the machine on overnight compling code. It seems it kept trying to spin the disc up, until it finally started spinning correctly.

Lee doing some very impressive work creating a beautiful Amiga 500+ for a great charity cause. Can't recommend this enough, make sure you check it out. https://t.co/8KCoCjOobF

I'm willing to bet the dvd drive was used a total of once to install solaris when who ever had it before me got the machine, then never again. It does make some exciting noises if you put a disc in it.
