I was excited when my @Xfinity services were restored after Helene, but after the fiber line was buried in my yard this morning, my services no longer work. You can't contact @XfinitySupport because they won't connect you with an agent in this area and their AI chat is lacking =(

@rebeccakeyphd I'm also very thankful for @Starlink. We were able to order a kit from @HomeDepot and get it setup. Having more stable means of communications really helps with the mental exhaustion.

@rebeccakeyphd Fourth, we've gotten to know our neighbors well, and I'm very thankful for that. Public services are slammed (understandably so), but as a community, we can accomplish a lot together.

@rebeccakeyphd Third, I knew this situation would be exhausting. However, I totally underestimated the extent to which it would be. Everything from cutting up downed trees, to maintaining a generator, to throwing together a battery bank...it's non stop.

@rebeccakeyphd First, I'm really glad we became involved in #hamradio. I've heard all sorts of jokes and negative comments about the hobby and how it will never actually be useful. However, ham radio was our only reliable source of local communications for 5 days as cell towers were down.

It's been an eventful time since #Helene hit. @rebeccakeyphd and I are very lucky in that all the downed trees were isolated to the yard, but we only have to walk a few hundred yards to see the toll it took here in east GA. Lots of lessons learned

Today's #sota activation was more eventful than expected. I came way too close to a rattlesnake once we reached the summit (@rebeccakeyphd said she thinks my heel hit the snake) -- either way, that rattle was loud! At least we got our QSOs haha! #hamradio

I can't believe how poorly the @Publix employees treat people at the location closest to me. Maybe it's included with their high prices? I'll definitely be going out of my way to avoid ever stepping foot in this location again going forward.
