Studies show that Black women are three times more likely to die during pregnancy than White women. This is why #BlackMaternalHealthMatters
Shocking video: Shows staff at Franciscan Health Crown Point, IN kicking out a pregnant black woman in active labor, told her she was only 3 cm, and sent her away. 8 minutes later, her husband delivered the baby in their car on the highway. 😳

@birgitomo That cruelty to that lady is inhumane and inexcusable - a pregnant lady about to give birth being discharged??? I am aware of that statistic you quote and there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for such outrageous disparities. Beyond disgusting.

@birgitomo The majority of black women are obese. This is a factor that makes all hospital visits more dangerous.

@birgitomo Systemic bias in healthcare is deadly. As a hematologist, I see these disparities daily. #BlackMaternalHealthMatters

@birgitomo It's beside the point, I know, but that woman has incredible self-control and grace. She's clean, quiet, well-groomed. That might be deliberate - to be seen as 'worthy' of good care. (Which is awful; birth is messy and arduous, & just surviving should be the whole damn job.) 1/

@birgitomo And it's all down to lifestyle choices made by black women. The greatest killer is obesity.

@birgitomo Provocation! Black women have problems during labour because of their bone structure.

@birgitomo Studies show that blacks are 40 times more likely to physically harm Whites than Whites would harm blacks. You are why.

@birgitomo If it’s true, it’s simply because black women have three times the pregnancies of white women. What I found amazing was that this baby actually has a father.

@birgitomo Those are amateur numbers. Got to get them closer to 10 times more likely. Unfortunately the reality is, they aren’t anymore more or less. Muh Racism

@birgitomo There are actual reasons why but you can’t blame racism. So you ignore them and the problem continues.

@birgitomo This is wrong on every level…something could have gone wrong with the Mom & baby…thank GOD it didn’t! The Mom & baby are both healthy, but the husband had to pull over on the side of the road & deliver his baby after being kicked out of the hospital!🙏🏾😖🥰
