From my latest for New Ideal, part of an ongoing project: . "Once we exorcise morality of these ghostly remnants of religion’s past, we’ll see this leaves more than enough room for new secular moral ideals to flourish."

I enjoyed this discussion with @tristandeliege, @BakulaRobertas and @donswriting on the subject of a very interesting book by Ruchir Sharma.

Glad to have had this conversation recently about the dramatic injustice now being perpetrated against women -- and doctors -- in states with new abortion bans.

Abortion Bans vs. Women's Lives. Three years after Roe v. Wade was overturned, we're seeing the consequences of state-level abortion bans across the U.S. How do these violations of individual rights threaten the lives of women? @agustinavcid and @BenBayer discuss.

If someone really wanted to revolutionize money, they should find a way to use blockchain to leverage idle CPU time across a network of computers to any network member's chosen end, making CPU time a fungible commodity which would give the tradeable compute credit a real.

But the speculation is, IMO, driven by ideology (confused Austrian and libertarian anti-government) that is way too contingent on trends to be solid money. In this respect it is a lot like modern art, which has also had a very long bubble.

This doesn't mean I'm anti-bitcoin. Feel free to speculate with it if you dare. It uses cool tech, which I'm sure has collector's value to tech enthusiasts, which gives it exchange value if you're willing to speculate.

LOL I thought this post would generate some controversy. Yeah I'm a bitcoin skeptic and have still never heard a good argument for why it could make for a good form of money.

The confusion that the Austrian marginal revolution concerns "subjective value" is a fallacy driving the bitcoin craze. The Austrians showed economic value is personal, but that's still personal objective use value. Commodities without use have speculative value, but no more.

"Personal objective use value" can include a lot, by the way. But it's not just made up.

I wrote an article for @ocregister @SoCalOpinion about the incredibly warm welcome I received from my fellow Americans when I became a citizen, which stands in contrast to the anti-immigrant rhetoric in politics these days. Link on next post 👇
