my grandmother always used to say “be like water.” i didn’t get it then, but now i understand. don’t cling to anything too tightly, that includes yourself. let versions of you pass. let things move and flow. don’t get stuck on one idea, one identity, or one season.

i'm a big fan of the "gps theory" when you miss a turn, your gps doesn't judge you, it recalculates. no matter how many detours you take, it finds another way forward. life works like that too. you'll make mistakes, but your destination doesn't vanish. the route just changes.

Nothing humbles me more than realizing how many things I once prayed for are now part of my normal life, & I barely even notice them anymore.
