Cast was announced today for a show I went up for. During the audition, director exclaimed “I love my job!” in response to work I did. Sometimes we smash it & still aren’t cast. Rejection sucks. But it’s not always cos we sucked. What’s your best compliment in a “failed” casting?
I’ve also had “that was a stunning reading” and “you’re the best person we’ve seen for this role”... honestly can’t decide if these “ones that got away” are easier or harder to take!

Casting Director messaged my agent to say “Easily the most characterful delivery man we’ve ever seen. He told the whole story. However, we feel it’ going to draw focus from Toni Collette.”

Listened to a podcast where Seth Rogen said he had to tell his writing partner to stop saying encouraging things to actors in auditions cause he’d get their hopes up 😂😂 he even told him to stop saying ‘see you soon’ 😳😂😭

I had a director on a West End play asking the “is there any reason you wouldn’t be able to do the show?” questions after a hugely positive recall. Those questions should definitely only be directed at an agent! Haha

So many stories like this. I've shed so many tears. I now just don't count anything as a given until a contract is signed. My heart can't take it anymore.
