Sarah Baum and I find that natural resource countries are less gender equal on average. @_alice_evans have an idea as to why, read the thread:

Resource dependence reduces female labour force participation, which thwarts progress towards gender equality. Thatโ€™s why many Sub-Saharan African countries (like matrilineal Zambia) were probably more gender equal BEFORE the exploitation of mineral resources in C20.
