We mourn the passing of Prof. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, a world renowned astrophysicist. He was the founding director of IUCAA, Pune. His notable work includes Hoyle-Narlikar theory of gravity and Steady State Theory of cosmology.

His books are known for their easy language and are full of helpful examples, making difficult concepts easier to understand. Because of his efforts, many students and scholars across generations were able to learn and appreciate the depth of Indian astronomical knowledge.
