we were all building here. Caste was not even on our radars. We all intermarried between castes and races. Whoever is instigating media assaults on all US Indians about caste prejudice you are painting w an unfair broad brush. 99.9 % of us don’t care about caste.

About merit yes we do care. Fiercely. We would never hire somebody unqualified or a poor fit, just because they were black or white or anything in between.

Indians have mostly come to the US on H1B visas. And for years it has been clear we aren’t tapping into any real talent pool, but a deep pool of India-based corruption which has grown immensely and now taints the highest positions of most tech companies. Caste is being imported.

America is not the place to come to escape the caste system. But the good news is; you can thrive in spite of it. It's just more challenging for the lower castes than for the upper castes.
