Paid apps just aren't working anymore. That's why only 4.5% of apps in the App Store are not free right now. My favorite example: Monopoly: The Board Game (paid) made $180K in the last 30 days after fees (estimated) while Monopoly Go (free) made $109M after fees (estimated).

FYI - You can see estimated downloads and revenue for any app and game with a free Appfigures account

@arielmichaeli The exception would be games for young children. Parents don’t want IAP. Example would be “Stack The States.”

@william_volk "Don't want", but yet those are still the highest earners

@arielmichaeli My favorite is when app store shoppers pretend they don't understand this and leave a 1-star "not really free!" review

@arielmichaeli Free + smart monetization is the clear winner in today's app economy, but execution matters more than price model alone.

@arielmichaeli Look what @Affinity just did with their free for life model. Much better move than what @topazlabs did removing local models.

@arielmichaeli That's an excellent point! Thank you. Well, paid apps have always gotten less attention
