@arianathepoet Not sure how to feel about the piece. Nothing said was a lie. It invokes those conversations with older folks about assimilation and ensuring my generation forgot all traces of Mexico. We were meant to be gringos. To proudly proclaim No hablo Español.

@arianathepoet Interesting! Have you read Martha Menchaca’s book, “Recovering History Constructing Race: The Indian, Black, and White Roots of Mexican Americans” Menchaca argues that Mexicans must recognize Black People in Mexico.
