This! This is something I will shout about and challenge all day. To say our deities that proceeded Christianity (as we know it) were evil is to say our history, cultures, beliefs before the arrival of colonialism were wrong. It’s rooted in self-hate and simply cannot be true.

I will never see African religions as evil. Evil are the colonisers who stripped my ancestors of their home, land and religion.

This is it. To suggest there are inherently evil just doesn’t sit right with me. I’m a Christian yet I can acknowledge how Christianity was used to erase the religions it displaced.
