Everything that needed to be said has pretty much been said, I'm mostly curious about their plan for the codebase: pretty much every single file at @Twitter mentions either Tweets or some sort of bird, my guess is that it'll be a very confusing transition period for the engineers

Using X for both the name of the platform and the name of the post will generate a lot of confusion in Technical Design documents, and don't get me started on the usage of "X" in code. "Every time an X gets posted on X, Xpie will need to fanout the X to the followers..."

Luckily using bird names was already discouraged when I joined, but I remember us having very long discussions over terms like "Subscription" or "Scheduling" or "Account Delegation". I can't imagine how much engineering bandwidth will be used on this.
