Many thanks, Terry
Possibly my fave column of the year @andrewrawnsley. The bizarreness of Britishness comes to mind. The serious point that the govt has take its eye off the Lords ball is instructive: loss of control again. Starmer’s cabinet is distractibly unloved. https://t.co/ZJ8W3nw3bK

Thank you, Justin
An important article - an aspect of the Government’s performance that is often overlooked is the fact that the Lords can and are preventing implementation of important manifesto commitments- we should be calling out these blockers far more often and far more loudly than we are

“Almost entirely unreported in the media, anti-government peers have been dragging out proceedings & bogging down legislation for months” @andrewrawnsley on Lords’ attacks on employment rights, assisted dying, planning reform etc #LVIPolitics #Lords

The best and most coherent argument for the abolishment of the House of Lords by @andrewrawnsley. If only @Keir_Starmer would get on with it. https://t.co/NxyOkLrmdZ

'It is reminiscent of the late Kenneth Williams playing Julius Caesar in Carry on Cleo when he pathetically laments: "Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!"' @andrewrawnsley on Starmer's week. Superb political writing, as always. #TheObserver

“Rachel could not only do everything as a journalist…she could invariably do it all better, and quicker, than anybody else.” My colleague Tim Adams has written the tribute to Rachel Cooke that she richly deserves. https://t.co/cQfkV1KyOv

Thank you, Terry. Much appreciated.
I wanted to highlight some of the best bits of this from @andrewrawnsley as he’s on fire about how to win elections on the centre left. Trouble is the whole column is a BANGER, an absolute treat that has to be read! So do read.

Glad it hit the spot, Su
@andrewrawnsley entertaining and insightful article today. "Sadiq Khan ...a man who doesn’t flinch at a cliche" had me smiling. ://observer.co.uk/news/columnists/article/mamdanis-victory-shows-how-much-charisma-and-knowing-your-voters-matter-in-politics

1/15 He is a director who defies genre and culture, creating films that are as emotionally intimate as they are technically brilliant. He’s won the Best Director Oscar twice for two completely different films. This is the story of the cinematic master, Ang Lee.

@andrewrawnsley An excellent piece - charisma counts, as does a focus on living standards, rather than, ideological hobby horses. What hope is there for Keir Starmer? (A silly question). Of course Zohran Mamdani won't be able to deliver everything he promises, but he is a breath of fresh air.

Thank you, Martin.
Perfectly observed by @andrewrawnsley The quick witted personal qualities of Mumdani and the exceptional communication skills of his campaign which largely sidestepped traditional right wing media…that’s wot won it
