This is a powerful affordable GPU to build an AI workstation for home or small research labs. If I was leading a research lab, I'd get several R9700s.
AI developers, your next GPU is here. The Radeonβ’ AI PRO R9700 brings scalable multi-GPU performance and 32 GB of VRAM to local AI development - available from select retail partners October 27Β from $1,299.

Aside from joking, it's always sad to see layoffs as it can negatively impact the life of employees and their families.

With recent unfortunate layoffs, I was thinking that, perhaps, someone should create a remix of the song Believe by Cher and replace "love" with "layoff" in the song. Do you believe in life after layoff?

I don't necessarily want to be "the top goal scorer" on a team. I'd be happy to provide "assists" to my teammates. Sometimes, an assist can be as beautiful as a goal.

IMO, a "priceless network" is people whom you can call, and they can actually "save" you in critical/emergency situations in life. #network

Java 25 finally introduces classless compact files and allows having top-level main methods. This would also make the language a bit easier for beginners. No more complaints about having to write a class when printing a "Hello World!". π #Java

I'm not quite sure whether raising the H-1B visa fee to $100K would make America great again. #h1bvisa

It was a bit sad for me to see that, unlike last year, the UK government has not considered TU Delft, the university where I completed my PhD, as an eligible university for the high-potential individuals (HPI) visa in 2025. Obviously, I may have some bias as a TUD graduate, but

I've tried "uv", a Rust-powered package manager for Python by @astral_sh. I've been writing Python programs for more than 10 years, but I've never seen installing and running a Python project can take less than 1 second! π #uv #python

6 months post-PhD defense, my list of advice for prospective students shrank from many items to just 2 essential pieces. Context matters! So I wrote a blog post explaining them properly. Written by a human (ME!), no AI involved! π Read here: https://t.co/EK863QteKI

It's not possible to effectively quantify the impact of changes in software/AI systems if one doesn't properly measure and observe the system's behavior via a set of pre-defined metrics. #monitoring #impact

Docker and containerization have their own benefits. One of them is limiting resource usage of an application running on a VM. This becomes more useful when there is resource leakage in the app, which may slow down the host machine if not running in a container. #docker

On the weekend, I was organizing my stuff, and I found the badges of the conferences and events I attended during my PhD days. TBH, it doesn't look bad for a PhD candidate who spent half of his PhD during the COVID pandemic. π #PhD

One of the things that can ruin your weekend is that your NVME SSD storage is about to fail, and you will lose your (precious) data on it. Thanks to @AorusOfficial, this is the second time their SSDs have failed for me in 3 years. π

I wrote 1,000 lines of C++ code to command the GPU to draw only a triangle on my screen. Guess what graphics API I used? Vulkan! π #vulkan

I was telling some of my friends that I'm missing my PhD days. I had a bit more "freedom" in the work I was doing. Plus, I had more control over my days off without affecting others. Now, for me, things are more serious in the business world! π #PhD
