On Friday I visited the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath one of the hospitals in @uhsussex. I had a detailed conversation with the midwifery and obstetric team about their work, before visiting the Emergency Department on a busy December afternoon.

Today is our chance to support our small and local businesses that help our high streets and communities thrive. Liberal Democrats are calling for a 5% cut to VAT on hospitality to revitalise the high street, cut the cost of living for customers and help small businesses thrive.

This morning I was amazed to learn that parcel volumes are up 40% on last year at the @royalmail #BurgessHill sorting office. I dropped in this morning with a tub of chocolates to say thank you to all our posties who are working extra hard in the run up to Christmas.

What a shambles! I am furious that Labour has postponed Sussex's mayoral elections until 2028 - wasting public money, council officers' time and throwing away detailed plans. It's blatant incompetence, so this morning I challenged the Minister about it in Parliament.

At last week's #PMQs I pushed the PM to say what his plans are to urgently get people home from hospital but are stuck there because of our failing social care system... ...he had no decent answer
The Prime Minister’s reply dodges the crisis facing our hospitals: blocked beds, limited social care, and services overwhelmed. Reforms in 2026 won’t help patients stuck this winter, action is needed right now. @alisonebennett

The ASGSF is a lifeline for adoptive children and their families. I pressed a Minister on it's importance. While he agreed that a 5% breakdown rate is too high, he failed to recognise the crucial role the ASGSF plays. I’ll keep pushing the government to reverse its cuts.

Yesterday morning I visited Keymer Hall, a new care home on Kings Way in Burgess Hill. I even got the chance to try out the 'dementia bus', which attempts to replicate the experience of people living with the disease.

We are fortunate in Mid Sussex to have the IB course available at Varndean, offering a high-quality program for young people. So, last week, I joined other MPs to present the 'Save Our IB' petition at Downing Street. Read more here:

A college in Sussex has warned its International Baccalaureate (IB) program could become 'unviable' after a government decision to cut funding.

As Islamophobia Awareness Month ends, the rise in anti-Muslim hate remains impossible to ignore. Together, we must call it out and build the inclusive Britain we all need and deserve.

I was in Tesco in #BurgessHill this morning with Mayor Stuart Condie helping with the Fareshare Winter Food Collection for our local foodbanks and the BH Pantry. Thank you to everyone who is doing their bit to help those who won't have enough this winter

The family farm tax, as it stands, will devastate farms across the country. The PM must reconsider.

I spent yesterday morning packing boxes with the team at Haywards Heath Town Council for their 'Leave No One Behind at Christmas' campaign. These gifts will be delivered to those in Mid Sussex who need support and a reminder that our community values them.

There is an entire hospital's worth of people in beds across UH Sussex NHS Foundation Trust who are well enough to go home. But they can't because there is no social care package in place. So, today at PMQs, I asked the PM how he plans to get these people home for Christmas.
