A Large Ion Collider Experiment is one of the largest experiments in the world devoted to research in the physics of matter at an infinitely small scale.
CERN, Geneva, Switzerland
Joined November 2009
The ALICE experiment has uncovered how light nuclei form and survive in high-energy collisions at the CERN LHC - a key insight that may help in the search for dark matter. https://t.co/AQs9cOc0ZQ

ALICE has made the first-ever observation of an attraction between a proton and a ρ⁰ meson. ✨ Featured in CERN Courier, this breakthrough (via femtoscopy) deepens our understanding of the strong force that binds matter together. 🌌💥 https://t.co/zT2CvBHhp1

How do charm quarks lose their energy? The ALICE experiment has taken a new step in understanding jets by looking at energy-energy correlators (EECs) inside charm-tagged jets. https://t.co/ZYlYED4Gm1

The first high-energy collisions of OO and Ne-Ne nuclei at the LHC confirm the unusual “bowling-pin” shape of neon nuclei and that even small collision systems show hydrodynamic flow, much like collisions of heavier Xe and Pb, despite the much smaller system size.

At a special #LHC seminar (16 Sep 2025), ALICE, ATLAS, CMS & LHCb shared first results from Oxygen & Neon collisions. Early evidence points to quark–gluon plasma (QGP) in small systems - with signatures of collective flow & quark-gluon energy loss.

In July 2025, ALICE smashed oxygen at the LHC to ask: can tiny systems form a QGP? First results from Nicolas Strangmann show clear jet quenching - suppression like heavier ions- a big step in probing tiny QGP droplets! https://t.co/RqOJDPikb3

"Evidence of nuclear geometry-driven anisotropic flow in OO and Ne−Ne collisions at 5.36 TeV" Even in these tiny collisions, the data matches hydrodynamic models. We still see fluid-like behaviour with very low viscosity, like in Pb-Pb collisions. https://t.co/W2KmpY33K1
