Exclusive: LangChain, the popular open source AI startup, has released its first paid product, LangSmith, today.

the tool is used by 1,000 teams with a waitlist of 80,000.
He also confirms a $25M round led by Sequoia.
LangChain is only a one-year-old company, with a team of 18. But its open-source project is used by more than 50,000 companies, and Elastic, Moody’s and Rakuten have already started using LangSmith during its test period this past fall.

It’s interesting because VCs always gush about LangChain but every time I talk with people who actually try to use it they’re pretty negative

Interesting! I’ve actually never heard about it from VCs without asking about it. Met Harrison at an event, and kept hearing about it in the months after. I was just at a gathering of early stage infra founders in Bay Area where one Q was “how do we get momentum like LangChain?”
