Exclusive: LangChain, the popular open source AI startup, has released its first paid product, LangSmith, today. CEO Harrison Chase tells me @forbes the tool is used by 1,000 teams with a waitlist of 80,000. He also confirms a $25M round led by Sequoia.

LangChain is only a one-year-old company, with a team of 18. But its open-source project is used by more than 50,000 companies, and Elastic, Moody’s and Rakuten have already started using LangSmith during its test period this past fall.

@alexrkonrad @Forbes It’s interesting because VCs always gush about LangChain but every time I talk with people who actually try to use it they’re pretty negative

@Hadley @Forbes Interesting! I’ve actually never heard about it from VCs without asking about it. Met Harrison at an event, and kept hearing about it in the months after. I was just at a gathering of early stage infra founders in Bay Area where one Q was “how do we get momentum like LangChain?”
