I never thought this would come up, but I mention this stupid conspiracy theory and the stupid people that believe in it in my stupid comedy special.
Abraham Pollak was an Israeli historian and founder of the department of Middle Eastern history at Tel Aviv University. He was awarded the “Prize for Jewish thought” in 1943 for researching and determining that modern Jews are actually Khazars who mass converted to Judaism.

I loved Tom Lehrer. I am so glad I knocked on his door. I am so glad I got the time with him that I did. Am listening today to some of his songs, and some of our conversations. He didn’t want a funeral, memorial or a fuss but he was a legend and genius and curmudgeonly grump.
#RIPTomLeher. The only person I know who ever met this reclusive comic genius is @AlexEdelman who surprised me & Phil with a great story of meeting Lehrer in this episode of “Naked Lunch.”

This fact should stand outside how you feel about Israel or Palestine: hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people, caught in a conflict not of their choosing, under powers that don’t care for them, are facing imminent death. They need aid, immediately.

If you’re feeling hopeless and shitty - esp given this man-made famine and a seemingly intractable conflict where the most violent voices seem the loudest - look for folks like @omdimbeyachad. Palestinian and Israeli safety is intertwined. Nobody’s going anywhere.
