There are too many stories like this. And the sad part is that it is 2023 and it continues to happen. I truly hope my kids’ generation interrupts this narrative. Their lives and mental health depend on it. #inequitableoutcomes.#goodvocabulary.#noaction .#beadisruptor.

The reality is the employee would be silenced, mentally beaten down to a point where it affects their mental heath and well being and then they just quietly exit. How many of you know friends who have endured this? And consequently quit.

I wonder, if the employee actually did this while in the position then when challenged by their superior, pulled this job description out and quoting it, would they be punished? I mean this is really a rhetorical question.

“Dismantling a range of practices and attitudes that marginalize particular groups, such as addressing bias, building cultures of accountability and developing culturally responsive and relevant practices”.

Do you ever fully read job descriptions? Do you look for particular language to see how companies present themselves? And then do you dig deeper to find out if how they present themselves is truth? . I am going to share a line that totally intrigued me….

I can’t say it enough. I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead my way, to not feel suffocated by rules and systemic challenges and to build relationships with some remarkable people working in community. So happy this has been put on my path. #kpdsb #HREA.

Made a game with Don at our Mental Health Champion Summit with NAN for the last two days in Thunder Bay. More time with Renée Southwind which is such a gift, a reunion with Niigaan in working together and new friends to shake up the system to serve students.

Today was a day of learning with Renée Southwind in Lac Seul. So grateful to make connections & engage in conversations regarding student success and then thinking about actions to support it. We need to move beyond conversations. Very grateful for the welcoming environment ❤️.

Conversations with students around school climate surveys while building my little advisory army to support student voice. Grateful for the welcoming environments by all staff and students. Looking forward to my visit to Lac Seul tomorrow. #HREA #buildrelationships.

School visits, day 2 did not disappoint. Toured Sioux Mountain and Sioux North and then was invited to the Food lab to witness pure food magic- fry bread, baled bannock, caribou tourtiere filling, prep for moose stew and Labrador tea; all for an upcoming meeting.

Spending this week filling my cup, meeting with staff and students and building relationships. This is literally my dream job. Given an opportunity to lead with support rather than interference. #KPDSB2023 #studentledlearning #capturingstudentvoice.
