There’s so many transfers at UCLA that interim coach Tim Skipper had to show his team a five-minute video the staff put together to explain the rivalry with USC. I’m sorry, but you can’t tell me the changes in college sports are all for the best.

Today's @LAO_CA report is grim, and county budget forecasts are even grimmer. The only way through this crisis is for the state to partner with counties to preserve California’s safety net: Medi-Cal, CalFresh, indigent care and homelessness funding. Otherwise, the pain will hit

This @naehomelessness slide from Tuesday's joint meeting on homelessness with @SacCountyCA, @TheCityofSac and neighboring cities makes it crystal clear: The HHAP program is working! That's why the state zeroing out of HHAP funding in the current #cabudget year made zero sense.

Turns out — shocker — you can't just flip the on/off switch to reopen a hospital. Rural hospitals in Inyo, Modoc, San Benito and far eastern Riverside counties could be next.
A month after #GlennCounty lost its only hospital, @SenAdamSchiff and @RepLaMalfa revive hope for its return. In the meantime, the county’s 28,000 residents are now traveling 30+ minutes farther for emergency care. https://t.co/TyUwURuTOG h/t Ana B. Ibarra, @CalMatters

This @LAO_CA report leaves no doubt: Counties cannot absorb these federal cuts and new mandates. Unless the state works with us to shield our safety net from disaster, counties will be forced to cut local priorities like public safety and homelessness. https://t.co/ddqATPt34p

Glenn County's only hospital closes today. It's one of many rural hospitals in crisis. Others: Inyo, Modoc, San Benito and far eastern Riverside counties. Context:

For years, California’s rural hospitals have been hanging on for dear life — because of both federal and state policy choices. Then came HR 1.

At all those places, @CCCounty is the connective tissue that ensures everyone is working together to help those in need.
Today's @CSAC_Counties President's tour in @CCCounty charted a path of hope from one successful project to the next: a new re-entry facility, a shelter and services campus, a permanent supportive housing development and much more. Thanks @supejohngioia for hosting us!

This is exactly what @CSAC_Counties, @CABigCityMayors & @CalCities warned would happen when the state took TWO YEARS to distribute HHAP (homelessness) funding … then zeroed it out in this year’s #cabudget. Successful programs are starting to crumble.

The Access Center Emergency Shelter in Modesto may shut down next year if new funding is not secured, affecting over 100 people.

Let's face it: A lot of early career comms jobs are boring. This one's different. @CSAC_Counties is transforming how we communicate with the public, the media and our members — California's 58 counties and the elected supervisors who lead them. https://t.co/ZvPnAd3S1C

Nice try. This is existing money, already allocated to existing services. Simply saying this money can also be spent on Prop 36 doesn’t magically create more money to fund those existing services AND the newly mandated Prop 36 requirements. https://t.co/12WQLdyYCm
