There are three key things that make the Swap API stand out. 1) Calldata > Quotes It doesn’t just return a quote/rate. It returns a fully constructed transaction, all with a single contract call. For developers, this means no more building complex glue logic. You just execute.

Each of these flows is abstracted away. You define the user’s intent. The API handles the rest. Everything is resolved through Across’ relayer network and trustlessly secured by @UMAProtocol.

The Swap API supports four routing paths: 1. Custom → Canonical Swap on origin chain, then bridge. 2. Canonical → Custom Bridge first, then swap on destination. 3. Custom → Custom Swap → bridge → swap. 4. Same token Just bridge.

From there, the Swap API returns a complete contract call with executable calldata. Your frontend passes this directly to the user's wallet for signing. Behind the scenes, Across relayers handle the actual execution: Swapping --> bridging --> swapping again if needed.
