@WillManidis Starlink a good backup if fiber optic undersea infra fails? I guess Starlink is vulnerable to Kessler Syndrome but seems less likely and higher barrier to entry for bad actor (probably only limited state actors) to act on.

In April, a team of cyberattackers attempted to breach an undersea cable off the coast of Hawaii. The cable is part of a network that carries over 95% of the world’s data. The attack is one of in a series of mysterious attacks on US infrastructure. Let's dig in.

@aaroncbailey @WillManidis If a Kessler really happens, we really have different problems. Then we are locked in down here for centuries.

@johannes_mono @WillManidis I was under the impression it’s only take a couple years for everything to fall out of orbit…am I super off there?

@aaroncbailey @WillManidis Nobody would bother to take out the hundreds of satellites when you can destroy/hack a few ground stations without which the satellites are useless.

@aaroncbailey @WillManidis Not especially. Satellite suffers from limitations in bandwidth, and very high latency. In the same sense that a backup generator will keep a few lights and a critical appliances on, but really is no substitute for mains.
