“Dead Butt Syndrome” should be a dead diagnosis… Frankly it should have never come to life. #kneepain #kneepainrelief #osteoarthritis #deadbuttsyndrome

If those exercises are painful, instead of abandoning good exercises & replacing them with silly ones for silly reasons (see above), you could simply adjust the dosage of the painful exercises instead. For more on this, screenshot the “walking regression ladder” at end of vid

Please keep walking & quad strengthening & any other exercise/activity that matters to you. Your muscles are firing just fine, you don’t need to “figure out” how to make them do that. They do it for you all by themselves.

3. Selling an oversimplified “solution”: he claims all you need to do is strengthen your butt.

2. Making your body seem more f*cked up than it really is: he claims your knee pain is from your glutes “firing too little” & your quads “firing too much”… Both of which are made up nonsense based on a theory from 50 years ago that has never been validated (Janda’s UCS/LCS)

(1 continued) Not to mention, for many of them walking is the only physical activity they get, but he wants them to stop.

(1 continued) The worst part is that he’s saying all this specifically to people with knee osteoarthritis, which is most common in older people, who just happen to be the people who need quad strength the most (fall prevention & maintaining independence)…

1. Fear mongering people away from good exercise: he says you should stop strengthening your quads & you shouldn’t walk if you don’t know how to make your muscles “work properly.”

Just say wide shoes might feel more comfy & it’s not a bad idea to strengthen your feet, especially if you need them for more than just normal human stuff. How hard is that?? #plantarfasciitis #footpain #bunions #barefootshoes #runningshoes #vivobarefoot

I’m not even saying foot exercise & wide shoes are bad to promote! Both have benefits that are worth promoting, but we can do that without fear mongering people away from the shoes they like. And without wasting people’s time & money on exercises & products they don’t NEED.

But we’re still blaming one simple thing like narrow shoes & promoting one simple cure like wide shoes & foot strength via exercises & products… Not because it’s scientifically solid, but because it has way more marketing & virality potential.

It’s pretty clear that foot issues are multifactorial. For example, as Spooner puts it, it’s likely a combination of genetic (G) & environmental factors (E)… So, G+E+(GxE)

We’ve been blaming narrow shoes for foot problems since the mid 1800’s!! And guess what? The prevalence of bunions & plantar fasciitis hasn’t changed a whole lot, despite the fact that shoe design has. Do we really think wide toe shoes & toe spacers are the answer??

Especially when her “foot doctor” angle is driven by a clear financial incentive... The products/services she sells & brands she collaborates with. What’s more frustrating is these financial incentives breath new life into myths that endure 100 years longer than they should

Last time I checked, a “foot doctor” is a podiatrist… Not a chiropractor who likes feet. She actually said a ton of really good stuff about several evidence-based topics in this interview… But that gets drowned out by all the false claims she made on such a massive podcast.

Also my Pain & Rehab Mentorship Program officially opened for enrollment today. Tap the link in my bio to get info & enroll now. If you read the testimonials you’ll see it’s clearly not an overpriced piece of sh*t like these posture scams.

And then of course if you fail to “fix” your barely modifiable, normal anatomical structure, they blame you for not using their overpriced piece of sh*t enough.
