Whilst I am resharing this thread I wrote in 2024, please do also read the recent reports led by Patrick Chinnery (medics) and Jessica Corner (NMAHPs) highlighting some of the actions that need to be taken to improve the situation. Both can be found at

Government uplift on DDRB imminent. Here is a cut out and keep table for how long it will take for your pay to catch up with the inflation adjusted 2008 level based on pay award (your pay has been behind already for 17 years, average worker caught up last year). 1/2
@trentconsultant Looks like fresh strikes on the way for all 😅

🔥Have been incensed about something all day…. Women are the majority of medical students in the UK, yet there are still pockets of the medical profession where dinosaurs are alive, well & roam the earth. Turns out my own clinical specialty (ICM) is sadly one such place…. 1/8

Im sorry this whole national recruitment mess is a complete disaster. Why do we keep on seeing these monumentally damaging errors? I feel so bad for those caught up in this mess with lives on hold @RCRadiologists The whole thing needs a rethink in all specialities IMHO.
Doctors received offers for Radiology training posts at around 3-4pm. They were able to accept these offers on Oriel and received confirmation of acceptance. Offers then began to disappear on Oriel. At 6:30pm they received this email. Simply unacceptable.

The key lesson of the Trump victory for us is that Labour has to deliver the significant improvement in quality of life that people can feel or we face the rise of right wing populism that has swept America. Half measures won’t be enough.
