It is possible to work in a way which doesn’t pit family against family or practitioner against parent. To deliver services fuelled by relationship, compassion and empathy on a bedrock of standards acknowledging a collective responsibility from services. https://t.co/inlqlWyqnm

One parent who attended a workshop 'Parenting a child with complex needs’ summed it up perfectly. "I actually feel that these sessions have given me a little boost and reassurance that what I'm feeling is quite normal and that I'm doing ok!"

#Personalisedcare and co-production rely on effective communication. They are dependent upon a correction to an inherent power imbalance. CPD certified courses on correcting that power and being agents of change. https://t.co/inlqlWyqnm #coproduction #personalisedcare

Greeting parents appropriately, using their preferred name, to initiate high-quality communication is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. It's also easy, polite and makes an interaction more human. (Levetown, 2008).

“When I am called mum , the issue is not simply how my identity is diminished, but the agency it subtly robs me of. It makes me feel patronised and as if I am being seen as an equal partner and it doesn’t feel collaborative." Great blog Sharon Foxall https://t.co/wMWz55Z2EO

Are the ableist schools rewarding privilege through attendance awards rather the value of a pupil’s achievable effort?
