If you forfeit a conference title game because you’re afraid you’re going to lose, you should forfeit your spot in the playoff anyway.
Alabama’s resume is still better than Miami/Notre Dame. This would also be such a bad precedent to set by punishing a team for playing in conference championship weekend. You could start seeing teams who are currently in the playoff field start opting out of conference title
