you should define people by their objectives. the goal of the consistent actions they take. not the spicy-ness of their rhetoric. not the type of tactic they’ll join at any given moment. what people aim to contribute to tells you more about their politics than their word choice.
this is important so that we can properly locate ourselves (in/out)side potential movements. we can’t hold each other to standards or build momentum if we not in agreement about what our goal is. we can’t even properly assess the effectiveness of a particular tactic without this.
