I am so glad I don't fly often enough that I need to optimise airport time. The below take is absolutely insane to me. I'd much rather arrive in plenty of time and enjoy a coffee / read / play with my daughter while waiting to board.
The goal of being at the airport should be to never stop walking until you take your seat on the plane

Can't stop thinking about this. My strategy, assuming I'm alone: run ~5km at race effort (adrenaline is a hell of a drug), ideally uphill, and then find a big tree or a cave. If I was with my wife and daughter we'd be fucked.

Kipchoge and it's not even close. The number of true elite distance runners that have attempted 100mi is close to zero. Show me someone with a sub 2:10 marathon who has gone for the 100mi record.
What’s the more impressive running feat? 100mile world record: 10hr 51min 39 seconds Or Kipchoge running a marathon under 2 hours: 1hr 59 min 40 seconds

Sunday: 2hrs LR @ 4:34/km avg This was great. The Superblast 2s are so, so good for long runs, and spending time outside in autumn taking in the sights is just... 😍 Legs were sore going into this but felt good during. Definitely due a down day now.

Re: bike safety. There is clearly risk. I pick my routes and the weather I cycle in carefully. I am lit up like a Christmas tree, probably visible from space. And I cycle conservatively. Yesterday I saw 2 cyclists out for Sunday spins wearing 100% black, no lights. Shocking.

I love my Garmin but I turn off all the smart watch functions. The last thing I want/need are more notifications or more connection to the internet. Timex Ironman watches were elite, I had one, used it for track work and lifting.
Looking at my "new" Ironman watch with nostalgia. Fondly recall the days when this was all we had. Still the only watch I use in the gym. Don't want the distractions of tech. Notifications take you out of the moment.

This is a great read. Not just applicable to Ireland.
I wrote a piece for the @IrishTimes on why Ireland can’t build anything these days, and how to fix that.

Saturday: 17km w/ 3x3km sub-T Reps in 3:54, 3:53, 3:51/km (3' jog rec) This was somewhat of a grind mentally, but the effort was good and I just approached the bottom end of threshold HR on my last rep, which is where I want to be.

I've been gradually ramping training over the past 3 months and have started to notice obvious signs of levelling-up like easy pace dropping, faster recovery after runs. Cool one this morning was seeing clearly defined veins on my calves. The machine is getting built.

On Tuesday eve I had one of my best workouts ever at my club's Track Session. 10 x 600m (2' rec) Started at 1:59 and worked down to 1:54. Felt smooth and controlled. Nominally this was supposed to be at 5k pace, would indicate a big PB incoming if that's the case. Let's see!!
