Why wasn't it a referendum on conference title games in 2017 when Auburn fell out and idle Alabama slipped in?
@AriWasserman I don’t think that’s easy because then it becomes a referendum on conference championship games. And the loser of champ games last year didn’t get knocked out of the field.

There is a sense that for the most part, Alex Golesh will be loyal to his previous staff. That's certainly his prerogative.

Remove the weekly reveal show entirely. I’m for that. I do think the weekly rankings themselves could remain public. They provide transparency into the committee’s decision-making process and how it evolves over the season. I think teams knowing where they stand is a good thing.
Kirk Herbstreit and Nick Saban are both ready to dump the weekly CFP rankings. "Honestly I think we should remove, with all due respect, the Tuesday night show."

Yep. First true road game for this new-look Auburn team. It will take a special effort to win. Building confidence through this non-conference slate is critical.
No. 20 Auburn plays its first true road game at No. 2 Arizona Saturday night. “Can’t get rattled; it’s going to be a great environment ... defensively, we’ve got to play with unbelievable effort and energy, and just fly around.” https://t.co/DsKZiEIS1S via @on3sports

Since many have asked: if Auburn receives a bowl invitation at this late stage, they will decline it, sources tell @AuburnOn3 Coaching change, staff building, roster retention, players in offseason mode — a bowl trip simply wouldn’t make sense. 🔗 https://t.co/fgH2fD0gKZ

“Lane was struggling taking a new job and doing his current job” Nick Saban on Lane Kiffin not staying with Alabama for the national championship in 2016. Despite this, Saban strongly advocated Ole Miss keeping Kiffin around for the 2025 CFP.

This offseason was always going to be about retention, especially when the season went the way it did. Auburn’s first priority since the summer was to position itself to retain the roster. With a coaching change that will be more challenging, but retention is critical.
@JDM8675309 @_JHokanson Pretty obvious this cycle since Golesh couldn’t form relationships with this class in 2 days that they’re going to prioritize portal and retention. Would look for the 27 class to reflect the uptick in NIL budget

Yes. A “championship-level roster” will cost $30M next fall, most ADs feel. If you want to play big-boy football, hitting that number is almost a requirement.
Add another school to the list that’s committing to paying its football team well above the House settlement’s supposed cap. At this point, your football payroll alone needs to be at least $25M ($5M over the entire cap) to be running with the big dogs.

Kentucky’s 35-point loss to Gonzaga tonight is its largest neutral site loss in program history. The only time Kentucky lost by more at home: on December 18, 1926, Cincinnati beat the Wildcats, 48-10.
