Team #POTENTIAL visited study sites in Mardan for progress evaluation and conducted on-site refresher training on the #TB-Diabetes counseling manual. #PublicHealth

During the Refresher training, Project Manager - Dr. Syeda Fatima Jamal conducted a comprehensive session on the optimised TB-Diabetes care pathway. She addressed key challenges identified in WP-2, and highlighted the necessity of establishing an effective referral mechanism.

Dr. Zohaib Khan - WP2 & WP3 Lead of #POTENTIAL has been working in collaboration with the TB Control Programme to address the health inequities. Team #POTENTIAL is grateful to him for concluding the event on a motivating note and distributing certificates among the TB staff.

Aliya Rehman - Psychologist in #POTENTIAL facilitated a detailed session on the counseling manual during the refresher training. She highlighted the crucial role of effective patient counseling in enhancing treatment adherence and overall outcomes in TB-Diabetes integrated care.

Dr. Abdul Jalil Khan delivered a session on diabetes management, referral protocols, treatment monitoring for TB-diabetes comorbid patients, and addressed concerns raised by TB medical officers. Team POTENTIAL is deeply grateful for his time and expertise. #TBdiabetes

In the refresher training for TB staff, Dr. Zulfiqar, the #POTENTIAL’s focal person for District Peshawar, delivered an insightful session on the implementation of the optimised TB-diabetes care package in the DTO clinic. He shared the challenges faced and how they were overcome.

Successful refresher training for the TB staff has been conducted before the initiation of work package 3 of the #POTENTIAL project. Staff from 15 TB health care facilities across Swat, Mardan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi participated in the training. #HEC @UniOfYork

POTENTIAL Research Assistant @aliyaR21749 a Psychologist, delivering the Optimised TB Diabetes counseling manual to the TB staff with emphasis on REASSURANCE & effective communication with clarity, empathy, active listening, ensuring privacy and confidentiality

Day 2 of training for TB Staff. @drasimakhan172 delivered a lecture on - Diagnosis and management of Diabetes - followed by a hands-on session on how to use the glucometer to monitor the blood glucose levels. How to draw, store and transport blood for HbA1c was also discussed.

35 MOs and DOTS facilitators from 4 districts of KP (Mardan, Swat, Abbottabad and Peshawar) and 1 district of Punjab (Rawalpindi) were part of Day1 of the two-days hands on Training for the TB Staff. POTENTIAL KMU Team is thankful to the attendees for their active participation.
