Can we stop saying that a simple design is a bad design???
I mean, tbh I think the most important part of designing is not doing ultra detailed designs, is the character being recognizable
It can be simple or detailed, like Konata from lucky star, she's super iconic and has such an amazing design, even if it's really simple, I think bungou stray dogs do this really well too, I can see Dazai drawings without saying he's Dazai and say "OMG DAZAI"
Or we can talk about superman, spiderman or batman, their designs are really amazing, bc they're recognizable!!! You can see their designs in every picture and say "this is superman" or "this is batman"
I didn't expect this to have more than 20 likes and now have 500+ how I did this? I don't know, maybe it was the Yuume-moment/j
BUT THANKS FOR AGREEING WITH THIS!!!
@kromarrus
I think detailed and simple designs are great, it's just the personality of the character, if the character is more extravagant or he wants to get attention he would put a lot of details in his clothes!!!
@Yuumelish
I agree. I remember I saw a video on this. It said that the best designs are those that you can remember without looking at a reference over and over again. You can say Mickey Mouse or Mario are good examples. Also Goku
@Yuumelish
Complicated designs are very comic unfriendly. A lot of manga protagonists have simple, yet iconic designs, naming just a few: Luffy, Ichigo, Denji, Naruto. All depends on the function and purpose.
@Yuumelish
I intentionally made both my design and my mascot simple complexity.
What I mean is I made both designs very simple in reality and due to how I did so make em look more complex than they actually are. π
Both were also designed intentionally to be artist friendly/easy to drawπ₯°
