My #SlowTravel from Germany🇩🇪 to PNG🇵🇬 for fieldwork research has started.I plan to travel 39,000km on land and sea rather than✈️ to reduce my carbon footprint. My trip will reduce CO2 by 6,7tons compared to✈️-albeit still emitting 2,7tons. Here you can follow daily updates. 1/🧵

Transparency is often touted as the solution to global supply chain issues such as deforestation and human rights abuses. But transparency has different meanings and aims, depending on who you ask, and some actors use transparency to hide select practices https://t.co/MIx6sDAOKy

🇦🇺’s Greater Gliders have fallen by ~80% across key areas. Sadly last year they were listed as endangered. A NSW Govt agency response is to log the gliders Tallaganda stronghold. We need nature law reforms @tanya_plibersek@PennySharpemlc

You’ve heard about Antarctic sea ice lows - well, here’s the consequences. Over 9,000 emperor penguin chicks from colonies in the Bellingshausen Sea are thought to have died in November 2022. The sea ice they lived on broke up early, before they'd developed waterproof feathers.

Alarm bells should be ringing everywhere. We seem to have underestimated the chance of climate breakdown causing simultaneous harvest failure in the world's major breadbaskets. It's an issue I discuss in Regenesis, but it appears much worse than we thought

Nice @sciam article: Better Bus Systems Could Slow #ClimateChange ++ As someone who elects not to own a car, I very much appreciate a good bus system! I can also attest to the service and connectivity improvements made in Seattle/KC in the last 10 years!
