A culture of systemic discrimination produces this as output. It may be that no one involved did anything most techies would agree is "wrong". That's the whole problem, that's what makes discrimination systemic. Exclusion & alienation by default are the norm of what's *right*.

"I felt like my life ended." As part of his tech job, Mophat had to 'filter' through up to 700 pieces of inappropriate content. He had to classify it, so that it could be recognised by a chatbot. Some of what he saw was very disturbing and had an impact on his personal life.

My brother did a foundation degree in his late 30s, he went on to get a first in his Bachelors degree, aced his master's degree and now has a great job at the University. I cannot stress enough that this saved and changed his life and the life of his kids.
This is shocking. There used to be many routes into study for those who didn’t make the cut first time - cheap FE evening classes, extra-mural university departments, low cost Open University modules. What is *wrong* with these people?

32 years ago today I ran away from violent home w my 3 small children to a @womensaid refuge. 6 months later I started a new life, got a council flat, studied maths at college, did a funded degree @lsbu, #CS #PhD, #OBE now Prof @durham_uni, 4 kids, 4 grandkids #livingthedream ❤️
