I was shocked to hear @BruceBanman define motherhood as starting "from the moment of conception" yesterday. With reproductive rights under attack on the front lawn of the legislature at this moment, people deserve a clear commitment from John Rustad to defend the right to choose.

Such a great time at Board Chairs Advocacy Day connecting with board chairs and MLAs from around the province as well as the Minister of Education.

apparently a lot of cis women need to hear this but a world where our faces, bodies, hair, breasts, clothing and voice are constantly scrutinized as "not feminine enough" is infinitely more dangerous than a world where trans women might also be in the bathroom and need to pee

I really appreciate Minister @RachnaSinghNDP taking the time to talk with me about the needs of our growing district. I The BC government is working with boards of education to ensure that public education includes and supports all students.

All this harassment campaign is doing is making our district a lot less safe for queer kids. It is making our district a lot less safe for staff. Anyone participating in this campaign is doing serious damage. It needs to stop. Now!

There is a tiny but loud minority in our city who don’t believe LGBTQ+ people have equal rights and who want LGBTQ+ representation excluded from learning resources. They are working with those from outside our community to bully and harass me into resigning. It won’t work.

In addition to the online petition being inaccurate and mean spirited, it is also useless. A bunch of anonymous and uninformed people from all over Canada and the USA “signing” a petition will have no effect on my position whatsoever.

I encourage everyone to go watch entire board meetings instead of the clips that have been selected by Action4Canada.

What I don't allow is comments about topics not on the agenda (the chair is required to ensure we follow our board meeting bylaw), comments that are discriminatory or defamatory, or comments that spread deliberate misinformation. Respectful disagreement is always encouraged.

There is currently an online petition circulating that seeks to have me resign or be removed. The petition is rooted in lies. It is demonstrably false to suggest that I do not allow comments I disagree with.

If at any point the board loses confidence in the chair, they can move to hold a new board election and select a new chair. There is no mechanism for members of the public to choose or remove the board chair.
