Just having watched "Tenet," it's embarrassing how badly Christopher Nolan handles female characters. He's either not interested or doesn't know what to do.

@WilliamScurry The only female character that worked well imho was Moss’s Natalie in Memento. She felt like a fully realized person, not just a cardboard cutout that wears clothes well.

@Darbmilne That would have been my corollary, but it was 20 years ago regardless.

@WilliamScurry This might explain a bit Bill. A number of my film students have, in the past, produced research assignments on his 'fridging' of female characters.

@Bertrom This is nicely done. Sorry to say that the succeeding decade has only buttressed the case even further.

@WilliamScurry Oh c’mon ! Shut your mouth ! I am a woman and I feel proud of the way he portrayed Katherine in this movie . Don’t try to take one scene out of re context and start a smear campaign

@tumblingweed6 I get you, but I'm trying for criticism, not a smear.

@WilliamScurry I think Nolan got too high off his own supply after Interstellar which I thought was fantastic! But Dunkirk already started showing problems with it's storytelling, limp and stale just like Tenet.

@IvanCaceres This was a bit of reprocessed "Interstellar" to me, but I was a lot cooler to it.

@WilliamScurry Oh boy! Michael Mann makes Nolan look like a feminist in comparison.

@WilliamScurry That’s because his films are for blokes still living at home with their mum.

@AfolabiDurotoye Punching up is punching up, ain't no harm in that. If people were kicking John Sayles, then we have a problem.

@WilliamScurry Of Nolan's movies, she's one of the few female love interests that doesn't die to benefit the main male lead's story. But then she spends most of the movie getting abused to motivate the main character, so progress?
